You grew up as a PK right?ĭan: Yes pagan’s kid-pagan’s kid.ĭan: No not a pastor’s kid. I want to go back and kind of get the narrative of your life and how you met Christ. Hopefully, as we get our own house in order, we’ll replicate it across all other states-all of the 50 states.ĭennis: And I want to encourage our listeners to pray for Dan as he engages this. So, for a gospel guide to call the church out and call them up to respond-I think, that’s a large part of our strategy in Kentucky, where we want to be the gold standard for foster care and adoption. It is the church’s responsibility, ultimately, “…to care for the orphans and the widows”-also in the text-“and keep themselves unspotted from the world.” For the church, it’s missiological-they’re called to this-you have James 1:27 / going back in the Old Testament: Isaiah 1:17. I think it’s the church’s responsibility. It is certainly the largest of a multi-pronged strategy. And here, in America, some 400,000 children in the foster care system-it is the only one, large enough, here, as well right?ĭan: Absolutely. you want to call the church into action because it’s the only organization, really, in the world that can address the needs of orphans, globally.
The czar’s position is to make sure that our kids find either great foster homes or great forever homes.ĭennis: And I want you to just explain that, as a follower of Christ, one of the reasons you want to do this is. Explain to our listeners what you’ve been tasked with by the governor of Kentucky.ĭan: Yes I’ve been asked to, basically, cut the red tape that has piled up over the years-in particular, answering to the governor of Kentucky-Governor Matt Bevin. He is the newly-created czar for adoption and foster care for the state of Kentucky. They have two children-live in Louisville. Dan has been married to Jane for 25 years.
